Waking a child up in the morning can be really frustrating. None of us want to deal with early morning drama.
While waking up a child can be hard, it is important to note that trouble waking up does not equate to laziness in children. Just like adults, there are children that are early risers and those that are not.
C Care Preschool knows you want to get your child ready for preschool in Arlington in time, so here are a few tips on how to wake your little pumpkin:
- Know their habits
Some kids are early birds, some are owls. If you notice that your child needs more time to wake up in the mornings, try incorporating that into your family morning routine.
- Getting enough sleep
Toddlers need much more sleep than adults. If you notice that your little cutie has been sleeping less than 10 hours, you may want to make bedtime a bit earlier the night before.
- Exercise patience
It’s hard to deal with a reluctant toddler, but it’ll be even harder if you let your frustrations get to you. Yelling and forcing your child to wake up isn’t going to help. So be as patient as possible.
You don’t have to be Beyonce. Singing to your child awake is just as sweet as singing them to sleep. It also creates a deeper bond between the two of you.
We normally use some of these tips when waking toddlers up after nap time at our daycare in Virginia, and they seem to work well. We hope they do for you too!
